• You can visit the Online Service Center 1st to setup a request online to get any repairs taken care of faster.
• Make sure you have your serial number handy if you are requesting a hardware related issue.
• Have your Service Request number handy if you have called about this issue before.
• Be near or have your Xbox 360 console handy when you call Microsoft.
• Take note of the color of your power supply light before calling Microsoft (green, red, orange, or no light), when you turn on the console.

  • Your Windows Live ID is the email address and password that you use to sign in to Windows Live and other Microsoft programs and services. This would most likely be the same as your Hotmail, MSN Messenger, Xbox LIVE, Office Live, and some others.

• Get your service number handy if you have called about this issue before.
• Before calling Microsoft insure you are near or in front of your XBOX 360 Console.
• Know your Gamertag and Windows Live ID, if you don't you can find it HERE.
• Either know the last four of the payment method or credit card on your XBOX LIVE account or get the secret answer to the question you setup when you activated your account.
  
• You will be required to provide the first and the last name of the account holder (who setup the account)
  
• You will be required to provide the telephone number and/or the billing address on the account.
• Make sure you have setup your secret question on your Windows Live ID.
  • To setup a secret question and answer on your Microsoft Windows Live ID Account
    1. Go to your Windows Live account and sign in.
    2. You will see under password reset information, next to Question, you will need to click Add or Change.
    3. Input the password you are currently using on your account.
    4. Choose a question from the drop down box provided.
    5. Input the answer to the secret question in the box provided.
    6. Also you will want to go under account management/information to ensure your location and birthday are entered correctly. These are used to verify that you are you as well.
       
    7. Click Save.

Just remember to have as much of the information above. Microsoft Customer Service can validate your account with some or all of the information and they will work with you. The process does go much quicker if you have more information though but don't get discouraged :-)
